Whether a case is referred from a potential client, another attorney, or third party organization, the process employed by ILCJE is identical.
All initial requests are submitted to ILCJE staff. The staff undertakes all required actions to obtain the necessary documents and information for a thorough review of the issues. If the case fits the basic criteria for consideration, the case file is forwarded to one member of the Advisory Board. That member reviews the materials and offers an advisory opinion on whether the case should be accepted, and, the amount of resources that should be allocated. The Advisory Board member’s opinion is forwarded to the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors, by a majority vote, may reject, accept, or accept after amending, the opinion of the advisory board member.
